Blogger isn't cooperating with my Firefox right now. I have a sneaking suspicion that AVG just took over my computer and won't let me play with the internet anymore. I have a word for programs that do stuff like that: Uninstalled. There's "security" and then there's "go sit in a dark room and don't come out."

I turn off all the computer-based firewalls, from Windows and from the anti-virus progs. My firewall is external in my router. If you have that, you don't need more. It's more important to have a good anti-V and Malware progs running.
Personally, I like MalwareBytes and Avast! but to each their own choices.
To be honest, I don't know if my firewall is from my computer or my router. I did reinstall AVG (without the gorram idiotic internet toobar and freeeking annoying popup widget this time), and I do have Malwarebytes as a backup. But I still can't get on to my blog through firefox...
Goto Control Panel and then WIndows Firewall (WinXP). There you can turn the firewall off. Windows will complain so also changes the notification on the left sidebar.
Vista and Win7 are similar. For AVG, right-click on the icon in the lower left corner of the screen. Once in AVG go to setting and scroll through them until you find the firewall and turn it off. I switched from AVG to Avast! a year ago when AVG got a case of the bloats. Both AVG & Avast! work equally well.
Finally, locate your friendly neighborhood IT tech (a friend or acquaintance) that you can call for advice.
Oh, the firewall has exceptions based on application. You can also go into Windows firewall, look for exceptions and add Firefox to the exceptions list. I'll bet you'll find Internet Exploder there already.
Sneaky M$.
