Thought for the evening

Just say "No" to gin and coke. Please.

I don't think I would have tried that, even in college. Thanks for the heads up.

An evening long ago, the husband came home after a long day of trying to kill various pesties at 10 feet from an airplane doing 100 mph (those things never end well). Pork chops were in a big crockpot on the counter, on the stove was some potpourri simmering in a tiny saucepan on the back burner. He comes into the living room making a REALLY funny face and sticking his tongue out repeatedly like he can't get the taste of something off his tongue. He looks at me and said "Hon, that soup you made tastes like shit!".

You think the fact that it was pink and had pine cones and crap in it would have been a warning. . .

Heh. Yeah, some people I guess just aren't meant for the kitchen, even self serve...

But regarding the drink, I had just had a coke and bourbon, and had some coke leftover, and had a bottle of gin, so I thought, "well, a small one just to see how it is, what could it hurt?"

It hurt.

What was the bourbon?

Evan Williams. It seems good enough to my inexperienced tastes, and isn't that expensive. Though I am interested in trying out other brands. There's a couple craft distilleries in town here that I kind of want to try, but it's hard to justify 60 bucks for a bottle of booze when the cheap stuff seems good enough...

Why would you even think about drinking a pine tree?

Do they still make the Lemon Coke/Pepsi?

Dead Priest:

1 jigger well gin
twist of lemon
Lemon Cola

Serve over ice with a sugar rimmed glass (for a white collar)

Yeah! That shit JUST HAPPENED!!!

Kurt: It's oh so refreshing!

Weer'd: I have a horrible taste in my mouth from just reading that.

What is going on in here? I leave you kids alone for a few hours and come back to see the good name of gin sullied, and people not only buying lemon cola, but poisoning the gin with it...

Oh, and good bourbon is great all by its onesies in a brandy snifter while watching the sunset.

Hey, I like gin just fine, with some tonic or cranberry. Not cola. I think it's even better than potpourri!
