What works good for coon bait is a leftover zucchini fritter.
Poor little things look so cute...almost makes me feel bad to be trapping them. Oh well, I'm a firm believer in unnatural selection.
And just for a tally of the summer, I'm now up to 3 raccoons and 2 skunks. And one dumb cat that I let go after being convinced that it had nothing to do with my dead chickens.

How do you dispatch them?
FYI Peanut butter is the universal animal bait. Ain't much that won't hit on survival paste!
We use peanut butter as mouse and ant bait. As in, put it in the mouse trap every day so the ants can come and carry it away.
As for the dispatching, the little .22 buckmark pistol is what I use.
Do the skunks make a postmortem stink?
Oh yeah. I dig a hole before hand to dump them right in. It still smells like skunk out there from when I caught those two back in june, was it?
