Overheard at the pre-wedding preparations:
Bride's mother: "(Dad), do you have the wedding cake stand?"
Bride's father: "No, but I brought one of my chainsaws." [goes to start cutting up a log to make a cake stand]
Pretension free weddings are the best kind!

Dad remarried after Mom died. A widow who was also a Montana native. Both were in their 60's. The day they got married it was 29 below. That was the ambient temp, not factoring in wind chill. The church was full. They went cross country skiing on the honeymoon.
